Additional Camp Information:

  • Do I need to stay in Bishop or Mammoth, CA?

You can stay in any of the surrounding towns/cities. If you would like a city with more lodging options look at Mammoth Lakes, CA, but keep in mind it is about a 40-45 minute commute to camp and back daily when we operate out of Bishop. Camping is also a great option for this area.

Look at our TRAVEL PAGE for more details around Mammoth.

Feel free to contact us for further recommendations if needed.

  • What weather should I expect?

We ride all winter and summer out of Bishop. Bishop gets high temperatures in the summer and 5 inches of rain and 8 inches of snow, on average, per year. April and May should have milder temps. April on average is 68-76F daily and May is 76-84F. In June we go to higher elevation in Mammoth but storms and snow can hit even in late May and we generally tend to have big swings in the temperatures starting at 8,000' of elevation.

The Fall October and November camp should have comfortable riding weather with chilly mornings and warm afternoons.

Regardless, pay attention to the weather apps and note layering appropriately will be key for all camps. Find more details on our WEATHER POLICY here.

  • THE QUESTION EVERYONE LOVES: What tires?

40c or larger for your comfort. This is TUFF and this type of material is complex at times so bring tires that are TUFF. Tires that have extra sidewall protection and are a larger volume (size) tend to work better. A 48c tire would not be considered too big and would make your rides more comfortable in the long run.

    Amanda's recommendation for the TUFF:

Rene Herse Hurricane Ridge with the Endurance or Endurance Plus sidewall/casing

Read our 2022 TUFF GUIDE for more detailed information if you'd like to nerd out on tire choice for this area.
