Additional Camp Information:

  • Can I or do I need to stay in Americus, KS?

There are no lodging options in Americus.  If you would like a city with lodging options look at Emporia, KS, but keep in mind it is about a 10-15 minute commute to camp and back daily. We recommend lodging options on the Westside of Emporia, about 10 miles south of camp.

For more info on travel and lodging please visit our friends at Visit Emporia.

  • What weather should I expect?

Kansas weather in April can vary greatly. Be prepared for daily temps ranging from the mid 30’s to mid 40’s at daybreak with highs in the mid 50’s to mid 60’s in the afternoon. April can also bring showers so plan ahead. Layering appropriately will be key for all camps. Find more details on our WEATHER POLICY.

    FHG Rider INFO

  • THE QUESTION EVERYONE LOVES: What tires?

40c or larger for your comfort. These are the Flint Hills and this type of rock can be like jagged aeroheads at times so bring tires that are TUFF. Tires that have extra sidewall protection and are a larger volume (size) tend to work better.

Amanda's recommendation for the Flint HIlls:

Rene Herse Hurricane Ridge with Endurance Plus sidewall/casing

Bobby's recommendation for the Flint Hills:

GRAVELKING SS PLUS+ FOLDING GRAVEL TIRE
